Firozabad is a city and district headquarters of Uttar Pradesh. It consists of five tehsils, i.e. Ferozabad, Tundla, Shikohabad, Jasraana, and Sirasganj. According to the 2011 census, the population of Firozabad district is 6,03,797. Total Area is 35.49 Sq Km. This city is famous for the construction of bangles. It is located 40 kilometers from Agra and 250 km from the capital city on the east side. Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow is about 250 km east from here. Two towns come under Tundla and Shikohabad under Firozabad district. Tundla is located in the west and east of Shikohabad city. Firozabad is mainly traded in bangles. Here you can see the colorful bangles around you. But now the gas business is over here. Here other glassware (like glass chandeliers) are also made. The population here is very dense.
Firozabad was known in ancient times as Chandrawarnagar.
The city lies in the cultural region of Braj and was a part of the Surasena Mahajanapada during the Vedic Age.
The name of Firozabad was given in the regime of Akbar by Firoz Shah Mansab Dar in 1566.
Firozabad district was finally established on 5 February 1989.
Earlier we were classified as a “Nagar Palika ” type of Urban Local Bodies
Which later converted into Nagar Nigam on 4 August 2014. We are constituted as per the Constitutional provisions in the Constitution of India .
The 74 th Amendment promulgated by the Parliament in the year 1992 has provided the framework for our existence.
